My Regrets Poem by Dave Dafes

My Regrets

I regret those tender words unsaid,
The songs unsang
The tears unshed
The life unshared

I regret the love unspoken
Your soft sweet lips unkissed
Your arms uncaressed
My heart unlocked

I regret the passion unexpressed
My intention unrevealed,
The laughter unshed
The life together unlived
The joy ungiven

I regret shutting you away
Your absence unmissed
The wrong unrighted
Your entreaties unheard

I should've unsaid those words
I should've unplayed that game
I should've let you know I felt the same
But now it's late, you're now another's.

Now the shadows are descending,
As my youth is fleeting
I mourn the things I left undone
As I regret doing the things I ought not to have done,
But left undone things I ought.
