My Smile Poem by beautiful imperfection

My Smile

Look me in the eyes,
that's where the real truth lies.
Look beyond this smile I wear,
do this, and show me you care.
For my smile is only there
to cover up a heart so very bare.
My smile is rarely real,
it just covers up how I really feel.
I'm working at changing this,
it's a goal on my list,
but the process is slow,
but worth it, I know.
So help me out with this, facing my fears,
look inside and see the tears.
Offer a smile, or a warm embrace,
don't be fooled by this smile on my face.
A word of encouragement, or a kind helping hand,
whatever it takes, to bury this in the sand.
