Nelson Mandela Poem by Nelson Torres

Nelson Mandela

Let me tell you about this guy that I know;
He wants freedom and his head's on the roll.
That's cool with me.
We all want to be free.
He put back everything that he knew
Just so Africa's problems could be heard by a few,
Let's join his crowd
He's in jail now...
After all he just wanted their rights,
Inspired people not to fear those really big heights.
Despite all of the love that he'd give
White's only looked down at the things that he did.
See this isn't a matter of who you are
Tried to prove that so his people could finally go far.
Now he's on the first page of all magazines
While Africa's still screaming out 'listen to me'.
Nelson Mandela lead for democracy
While his people were punished, he let the whole world see.
They strived, believed, peace was achieved.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
BEFORE YOU SAY THIS POEM IS FALSE, I had to write this poem again as a homework assignment for when Nelson Mandela was in jail. Sounds more like a song to me but either way I really liked my work so I decided to put it up, enjoy! !
