Never Left Poem by Casey Tucker

Never Left

Rating: 4.5

All the times I spent taking you for granted,
to only realise when it was too late how much you meant to me.
Funny how the saying 'You don't know what you got till it's gone' became factual,
Each inch of your being just gone with no return.
I bet myself up daily for never opening my eyes to see,
How much you truly did for me.
You gave me my life and all my abilities, too be strong, to be independent,
to be able to survive when you where gone.
Almost as if you knew this was the evitable,
That you'd all ready seen the future and gave me skills to succeed.
Everything you did was all for the love of me,
Wanting the best for me and thriving to achieve the best.
I always thought you were pushing and controlling,
But have learnt to realise it was all for the good of me.
I send to you all my gratitude,
I only wish I was able to see it when you were here.
But then if I knew this was coming would I of turned out the same?
Life is a puzzle and you think you are solving it,
but really you are only accomplishing picking the right pieces to the bigger picture.
To send a positive for the negative of your loss,
Is that you have left a part of you behind in me.
Allowing you the ability to constantly shine and show you are always here.
Not by my side but within me,
A part of your soul you left me.
This brings a smile to my face, as I know I am never without you.

Lovely tribute and memorial to one whose love, influence and goodwill are not only missed but also irreplaceable. A well articulated piece of poetry insightfully penned from heart with conviction. Thanks for sharing Casey and do remain blessed. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
