Never Tried Poem by Ben mcelfresh

This isn't what i expected
I never even hoped for anything like this
I wasn't even looking
And this is what happened

I built up walls to protect me
To keep me safe from reality
You didn't even try
And found the only open door

I had reached my limit
I was sliding back into a dark hole
Being cut off from all emotions
Cold and numb all over

But again you don't even try
You keep me smiling
You make me laugh
You find a way to make me happy at all times

Before i go to sleep i think of you
When i'm not talking to you, i'm thinking of you
When i'm talking to you, i'm wanting to be beside you
Somehow you found a way to capture my heart
And you never even tried.
