Not A Cuckoo To Be Duped Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Not A Cuckoo To Be Duped

I am not...
A cuckoo to be duped.
A cuckoo to be duped.
A cuckoo to be messed with.
Tricked or fooled.
I'm not a cuckoo to be duped.
A cuckoo to be duped.
A cuckoo to be tricked,
Hoodwink or fool.

Innocent I may appear,
With those eyes.
Stretched wide open,
As if surprised.
But I'm not cuckoo to be duped.
Cuckoo to be duped.
Too long I have lived,
Not to be tricked or fooled.

Born a project baby,
And surrounded by bricks.
People that I knew,
Didn't take no nonsense.
I was taught to walk tall,
And be proud.
Lieing to myself or others,
Was not allowed.

I'm not your cuckoo,
To be duped.
Your cuckoo to be duped.
A cuckoo you think cuckoo,
Easily duped.

From the first step to my next,
After I crawled.
I learned to get up quickly,
If I stumbled to fall.
And facing obstacles,
Wasn't nothing to me.
Challenges were everywhere.
Like friends to greet.
I'm not 'that' cuckoo,
You can dupe.
A cuckoo you can dupe.
And used like others you made,
Fools!
