There hasn’t been a day go by
that I don’t think of her
how she looked out her kitchen window
and fed all the little birds
She was always my biggest fan
no matter what I did
She was the one that stood beside me
and told me how to live
She could see down the road
when I had blinders on
She would tell me how it is
when I was doing wrong
She would make me a cup of coffee
and explain it all to me
She would break it down simply
so a man like me could see
The things that I should be doing
and how to raise my kids
Things that I should care about
and the things I should forget
She was a real straight shooter
and always spoke her mind
She didn’t look out for your toes
or tell you everything was fine
If you ever wanted her opinion
You didn’t have to ask
You just had to be there
rest assured it was coming fast
To this day I miss her
and I try to put into words
the things she meant to me
and to those hungry little birds
