Nothing New Poem by Keith Oliver

Nothing New

You hurt me so
When all along you knew there was no place it could go
Unblemished by chance
You continue to dance

Allusions and lies
Will get you by
While someone begins to cry
Over this unbalanced emotion
That caused such unneeded commotion

Was it worth it?
How will one know?
Life moves on they say
But all I wished was for it to stay
For it to stay the same
I'm tired of this game
This game called love
When I look above
To the stars
They tell me from afar
That this is a ploy
To hook another ignorant boy

Feelings lost and hearts unmended
How could you have treaded
Over my rug of passion
I care not to know
Since all you wanted was a show

I thought there was a difference
But as life continues to teach
I shall walk along this wise beach
The beach of hopelessness
Where men cease to be happy
When a girl treats him
Like he feared
So he will remained endeared
To the woman who taught him nothing new
But how to move on
Following just another coupe
