Now That Christmas Is Here Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

Now That Christmas Is Here

Rating: 5.0

As the year sadly draws to an end
There's another soul lost,
And for now as I weep all alone
I'm left counting the cost.

As I think of the joy that we shared
But it vanished so fast,
Like the blossoms that bloomed in the spring
It belongs to the past.

With the blue skies of summer that turned
To a dull shade of grey,
I watched as the sunlight did shine
And then faded away.

Now the cards on the mantlepiece stand
In the candlelit room,
I peer at each one of the names
Through the cold, winter's gloom.

Those old faces, old friends still survive
Yet so many have gone,
And the spaces now show me the pain
Felt from losing someone.

I wish that I could bring them all back
For this season of cheer,
As I miss every one of them most
Now that Christmas is here.
