Obama Vs. Mccain Poem by Ramona Thompson

Obama Vs. Mccain

One way or another we must soon choose
Black or white?
An old man or a younger one?
Make no mistake that yes, indeed your vote and your voice do count during this most crucial time
America needs every single one of you now more than ever

Venomous claims and attacks by both sides on the other should do nothing to sway you
Support who you believe would make the best leader, not just who your friends say is the most popular choice

Make up your own mind and stick to your guns just like lard on a fat man
Coldly disregard all who would try to keep you from your rightful duty as an American
Can't let yourself get caught up in silly mud slinging and petty politcal game play
America's future is in your hands and the hands of your fellow citizens
It would be just plain stupid to throw away a chance to make what could be the greatest change in history
Now or never

Here is your chance to grab at the brass ring
Dare you take it?

For the sake of us all I pray that you will

I am not an American but am a very ardent observer of the most controversial (for the moment) political process taking place in America right now. I am afraid I have to disagree that the bases for choosing between McCain and Obama should be color and age. There are issues far bigger than age and color in the presidential elections. The floundering US economy, the Iraq war, the brewing conflict between Iran and the US, health care, and women and children's rights, among others, deserve every American voter's attention. Color should never be relevant- how does color bear into one human being's capacity? Age should be a minor consideration, unless the candidate in question is so old that his capacity to govern will be affected. Just my take. Keep writing.
