Of Repetitions My Verses Be Replete Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Of Repetitions My Verses Be Replete

Of repetitions my verses be replete
Yes this be inescapable
Of sounds repetition
Of moods and feelings repetition
Of trees and leaves and gardens repetition
Of hooting guardian caves
0f valleys in the night and moon
Of seas and waters rustling on the sands
Of words uttered by the wisdom owls
Of mountains low and high, snow capped
Or bearing less of snows
Of rushing water in the sudden streams
Of plains of inspiration as Mtahleb be
Of souls and Inner Souls that nightly roam the streets of old Valletta
Of dancing nymphs in Hastings Gardens after dusk
Of eyes that pine with beauty of the dusk
Of my father's sacred words that to me Commandments be
My mother's sufferings and anxieties in her last years
Of my failings in the words to reproduce
Of reproducing a civilization much of which draft
Of rains that scour the roofs when lightning strikes in dark
And sudden the rain storms begin and pattering;
Of hail, rare snows and of thundering
From near and afar in remote bourns
Of beauties of the sea in its wild rage
And surfing at the mouth of sounding waves
And surfing beaches and nocturnal bays
Wherein in rare times they see
Lost-looking spirits dance white and pale
Other spirits dance on the sea-rolled sands
Where their foot-prints reveal them at the touch of Dawn
When night-dew drops by the million smile
Proclaiming birth of beauty and the day
O! O! of these and more need I to versify.
