Offended And Obligated To Prove It Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Offended And Obligated To Prove It

Forced are most hearts,
To feel these days compassion.
And eyes made to open,
Wide and clear.
With mouths to close.
Leaving ears once blocked.
More than ever before,
Craving to hear.
Words heard to express,
From others to address...
Their main priority,
Has begun to focus upon,
The well being of others.

Leaving self interest,
And the need to impress...
Found to be discovered,
Has been the cause and the effect...
Of the mess they have created.
Now to know,
God bestows the blessings.
When things to possess,
On credit to get and claim to own...
Goes!

Bringing back everyone,
Regardless of race.
Political or religious affiliations.
On the same 'page' of understanding.
To comprehend.
Finally meeting to agree,
Without each other feeding the economy.
There is none.
And today?
This is shown to make known!

So hopefully,
A recovery back to normalcy...
Or whatever that was.
Will not include ignorance.
To relive to repeat it again!

"How could I have been so stupid? "

Wow!
Good question.
You must be psychic.
I was thinking the same thing.
Now...
If I had asked you that,
You would have gone out of your way...
To both feel offended.
And obligated to prove,
Just how stupid you can be.

"Okay. Okay!
And you? "

I would probably feel offended.
But not obligated to go out of my way,
To prove that to anybody.
I would leave my actions to speak,
For themselves.
Like you have done!
