On A Hot Summer Afternoon Poem by Gert Strydom

On A Hot Summer Afternoon

On a hot summer afternoon
when buzzing bee after buzzing bee
pedantically visits flower cup
after flower cup
it is snapped up by the jaws
of the little jumping, dancing
Jack Russell that rocks to and fro
as it is backing up
and rushing forward in intent ecstasy
of the stinging sweetness.
