On An Afternoon Outing Poem by johnny case

On An Afternoon Outing

We sift into our essence near the water's edge
While rapture feeds on vows of lifelines wed

Wind-gusts bear from where dwells
The seclusive past
An escaped childhood for us to share as
Breath the air.

Birds watch from distant leafless trees
Far sighted thoughts floating on the waves.
