On brand new wings
There are so many ghosts now,
Where did all the time go?
An old woman stares in the mirror,
All she has loved is gone
Farther than the stars.
Her old heart breaks again
For things she just can't explain;
She feels she should be waking,
Feels as though her ninety years
Were only a young girl's dream-
And when she lays her down again,
She'll fly on brand new wings...

Beautiful Patti! Saved to my favorites a while back when I had trouble commenting.
Very touching and poignant.
And when she lays her down again,
She'll fly on brand new wings..
beautiful lines carry equally beautiful meanings! Well written poem on old age and the gone youth and beauty!
