One Day At The Salt Mine – Sonnet #38 Poem by Stephanie Eve Kane Arado

One Day At The Salt Mine – Sonnet #38

Mid afternoon, my eyelashes flutter
Send me to a hot tropical island
Genie popped up and started to mutter
Happiness is in the palm of your hand
Your thumb and forefinger can stretch a smile
You can be satisfied, happy, content
Leave worries in a metaphoric pile
Forget about gas bills, cable and rent
Resisting the urge to turn away
My eyes fixed on him in afternoon daze
Secured him quickly to desktop fixture
My leprechaun keeps me out of the haze
The next time those positive thinkers lurk
Stop their quips quickly and put them to work
