One Twinkle Poem by Obed dela Cruz

One Twinkle

One twinkle—and things suddenly disappear,
One twinkle—and life grows with eternity.
So here am I as I think of You, my Dear
In Your light against the world’s dark enmity.

For I’ve been waiting that moment in the air
When You promised that we’ll fly up in the sky
And live a life as our joys we come to share
Because there’s no reason to be sad and cry.

I am waiting as I look upon the stars,
Dreaming of the Love that has been from the start.
For here am I to linger though time grows scarce
Because ‘til forever I’ll be in Your heart.

O my Love, I am longing for that twinkle
When I prove that faith will lead me beside You
And then look straight at the face without wrinkle
As You give me a spirit that’s ever new.

For I’ve been searching the sweet words You inspired—
All of those sixty-six immortal letters
That made me learn how things are to be transpired
Before the wedding kiss of two young lovers.

And I’ll be giving it all no matter what,
For my pledge means to me this self-abandon;
Giving You my all before the heavens shut,
To serve You gladly and my spirit goes on.
