Oscar Worthy Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Oscar Worthy

Cool down.
Lower your steam.
Do not yet blow a gasket.
Stop traveling so fast.
To reach a conclusion.
Afterall.
Did you not sit through,
Years of clues and hints...
There may be convincing evidence.
And known not to be hidden.
Yet ignored you did to hear.
The finding of it involved you.
And here it is today and years later,
You have begun to get upset.
Cool down.
Chill out.
Rest.
Like the others have done.
Pretending now to be bothered.
When allowed was a quality of life,
Permitted to oxidize until it began to rust.
And you want it today to believe,
Your blowing off of some steam...
Will do what?
Make that rust disappear.
Or have your over-reacting puffed up fluff.
Buffered by unconcern shown for decades.
Now it is your wish to rise from your butt.
To give a performance done too late.
For anyone to notice it Oscar worthy.
One never knows...
You may still be in the mix.
If you added consistency,
To the roles you pick to dramatize.
