Our Children Needing God Poem by Randy McClave

Our Children Needing God

We are all flawed
We all desperately need God,
And we all need his salvation
In our soul and also in our nation.
We don't want our children to be sinners like us
We don't want them to ever swear or cuss,
And we don't want them to chew or smoke
Or to drink alcohol and then one day have a stroke.
We don't want them to ever lie or to cheat
Or to rob or to steal or to abuse or to mistreat,
And we want them to always obey the laws
Before judgment day falls.
We don't want our children to turn out like others did
May God truly forbid,
We want them to go to church and to pray
And not to clubs or to bars to stray.
We don't want our children to take illegal drugs
And we don't want them to become bullies or thugs,
We want them to become the person they'll be proud of
As we always say a prayer and give them our love.
God gives the parents the child as a gift
So, their souls and spirits and beliefs they will lift,
Sometimes though, others must be their shepherd
When from the parents the word of God is not heard.
Jesus said, suffer those who offend the little ones who believes in me
It be better if a millstone were hung about their neck and drowned in the sea,
And if our children lie or cheat or steal or assault
Remember this, it's then the parents fault.
