Our Story Poem by Kelly Batson

Our Story

Rating: 5.0

Like a movie looping in my head
That first time I saw your face
I couldn’t bring myself to look away
Afraid I might miss a smile
Time stopped in its place
All for me that day
That moment
Will be with me for always

Your laughter and smiles
You joked with your friends
I was just girl
Another face in the crowd
But that was the moment
You took the piece of my heart
That will be yours forevermore

Your smile is so sweet
Your presents so claming
I watched from the stands
Your eyes met mine
My soul fell into your hands

Needing to know you
Wanting your attention
Our paths cross from time to time
You knew my name
We spoke but never talked

Never dare released true feelings
Years are left behind me
Facing the real world as young adults
I stop to think of you
To wish you the best
I wish that you had known

Life goes on
People grow up
Grow together
Grow apart
Still, I stop and think of you

Fate unlocks an unmarked door
A love is born instantaneously
There you were
Sitting awaiting my arrival
You’re holding your head in your hands
A nervous wreck
You looked up at me
Your face says it all
You smile
And you’re smiling at me

My heart is racing
I can see it in your eyes
Once again
The whole world stops for me

I know your heart well
I’ve met with your soul
The kisses and romance
Smiles and laughter
The promise of forever

This fog was unexpected
Our vision blurred
You lost your way
I scream your name
My cry is left unanswered
All that I’m left with is my echo
Confusion and lust
Devastation and wounds
My whole world stops for you

I still believe in your faithfulness
I still have faith in your intentions
With one small move of affection
I still believe in this love

I cannot mend this on my own
Lonesome seems uncomfortably familiar
I’ve seen this dark place before
So, I close my eyes
And there you are
Your smile and laughter
You joke with your friends
You look at me and smile
Then I open my eyes
And you’ve disappeared
Only these white walls and me

So this is our story
Can’t say how it will end
Even if its not for forever
This love was meant to be
