Paean To Love Poem by Dave Dafes

Paean To Love

Rating: 5.0

Love, sublime celestial flames,
Maid from Paradise hails,
We enter, scorch'd with intense ardor,
O Cherub, your shrine!
Your spell binds together
What statutes has asunder torn.
All men shall become brethren,
Wherever your divine wings flutter.

Whoever has been fortunate
A true friend to a friend been,
Whoever has the embrace of a beloved,
Join my hymn of praise!
Yes, and anyone who can
Call one soul his own on this perilous earth!
Any who cannot, let them sneak away in tears!

All creatures bred on love
At nature's breast;
Good and Evil alike
Follow her sublime trail.
She gives us kisses as wine,
A true friend, even in death;
Even beasts bow in desire,
As the angels before God stands.

Gladly, just as His rays pierce
Through the gloomy universe,
So you, brethren, should sail your course,
Loving, like a champion.
Love all, y'all!
This charge is for all mankind!

Above the pall umbrella of stars
Beyond this insidious world strewn with pain
Must dwell a loving father, who this Maid sired.
Do you bow down before Him, ye nations?
Do you sense your Maker, O world?
The universe trembles before Him,
When heaven's artillery pounds the celestial sphere
Seek Him above the pall umbrella of stars!
He must, beyond the blue yonder dwell!
