Painful Parades Poem by Mehreen Mujeeb

Painful Parades

Melted metals stream your head
Eyes become too hot to sleep
Desolate feelings unite
Solidify into alloys you choose to keep.

A piano falls on you
An untuned guitar plays in your ear
Expectations daze you confused
Your music becomes your fear.

The heart knows not of science
Yet you try to decompose
The heat is too much to take in
But what you took in froze.

This may parade your mind
But parades don’t last a lifetime.
