Paradise Of Promises Poem by Yiennarda Enk

Paradise Of Promises

Gloomy… gloomy… gloomy
The day is so gloomy
Rain, rain, rain
It’s freezing my brain

These are the times
When my mind is grim
When my life is dim
When my spirit is weak
And my future is bleak

… a stone cold heart
… my existence torn apart
… trapped in the dark
… wretched in a dump

Suddenly a ray of light
You came along
In the midst of my stormy night
A shelter you’ve portioned
You laid down protection

It was a happy, lively, merry life
In this room, I smiled, I l giggled, I laughed
It was still stormy outside, but you promised me the sun
After the rain you said will be cloud nine

And so this room I shared with you was paradise
Of promises, you said you’ll keep
When the rain stops, and the sun would rise
You said in time, the words spoken we will reap

I just wait, in this room of promises
Wait until the dark cloud parts
Wait until the birds chirp and fly
Wait till you bring me to the real paradise

Been three years, since the last dropp of rain
The sun is so bright, the trees are so green
The promised paradise is just at a hand
But I’m still waiting, am I waiting in vain?

And so please tell me… why do I still feel
Gloomy… gloomy… gloomy
The day is so gloomy
Rain, rain, rain
Still freezing my brain
