Passing Time Poem by Manonton Dalan

Passing Time

Lone light bulb up on the ceiling
Old fan slowly swirling
Mosquito sensing a fresh skin
Flew recklessly, hit the screen
House lizard on the right spot
Got a mouthful of that.
Clattered cards atop the table
Shaking hands in trouble
Smokes curling up like seaweeds
Trap in sagging spider webs
Burst of coughs from showering dust
They thought winner's lungs never rust.
A boy with a basket of boiled eggs
Energy rush for the sleepy heads
Smoke stained fingers against the cubes
Loose change in the glass tubes
A girl handing out coffee cups
For a day's few dimes or laughs.
