Peace At Last Poem by Emily Jane McMahon

Peace At Last

As I lay silently on the cold floor,
I close my eyes and picture a day of peace.
From all the pain and hurt,
From all the years of torture.

I see a world of love and kindness,
Where everyone is safe.
It feels so real,
I so badly want what I see.

So I open my eyes and pull out the blade,
I press it against my neck.
I say one last prayer,
For all the people I love So dearly.
Then I move the blade,
Across my neck.

I close my eyes and picture a perfect world,
Only to have the silence broken.
I open my eyes and hear banging on the door,
But the door is locked.

I close my eyes,
Why can't I just go in peace.
I feel something heavy on my neck,
I look up and see.
A friend crying over me,
But it's to late as no one can save me.

I hear the words,
I LOVE YOU but I can't speak.
I close my eyes for the last time,
I now have peace at last.
