morning shatters on the edge
of the horizon
i wake screaming.
tangled n the soft embrace
of sheets and blankets
clinging to me like the lover
I imagined in the deepest dark
of lonely dreams
his gentle murmurs shield enough
to still the fire in my bones.
Sweet conflagration leaps
from nerve to nerve
roaring in my ears to make me deaf
so I must feel, embrace and cherish
this fragment of my future come today.
