It beats like belly heart sink
Like forever in two seconds
Swallowing through closing throat

This fear

There was is all that I have left to hold onto
but even that is riddled through with bullet holes
the truth standing sideways
so as not to get shot

The lies

The questions
welling up through membranes of hope
welding together memories
pasting shredded ideas
of who and what and why

She or He

I'm looking for concrete answers
Like over there should make more sense
Then over here
Like from a distance all of this will make sense
Don't get too close
the illusion may meld with honesty
Making this all too real

The love

Like a road map
in all of the confusion
red and blue lines
like veins in our bodies
taking us from where we were
to someplace else
like maybe the journey will have a meaning
If I just hold on for long enough
'Hold onto your hats
Its gonna be a bumpy ride.'

Only your eyes

Only your eyes kept me
from losing sight
of where I wanted to be
and in the distance between
you and me

I could finally see myself
