Picture Frame Around The Garden Of Eden

Rating: 5.0

I'll go to the dollar store,
Buy a picture frame
For all the world to see
The loving side of me.

I cannot plant that cross.
I will not lay that curse.
But I'll carry it to hell and back
With it bare of any nails.

I cannot look up with open tears.
I will not stand at its foot.
But I'll comfort Mary best I can
When home she comes again.

I'll go to the years begging pardon
For things we've never done.
I'd have deflected the spear
From Heaven, but, once

I lived in the Garden.

You have showed the reader your Eve woman - strong uncompromising and loving. This is a cleverly penned piece about courage and compassion, beauty and absurdity, love and judgment. There is a beautiful little church close by where smart folk come into 'the hills' for weddings. I entered this stone place of worship about ten years ago and was impressed with the soft wood paneling. the lush velvet carpet and beautiful stained glass. Then I noticed the ugly cross (recently added and illuminated centre stage) and all sense of quietude left me. I think your poem speaks of this. And the picture frame certainly displays it splendidly. love, Allie xxxx

Sorry, I don't get it. But then you may not get my poetry either (somewhat obscure references) . It could be your style - I'll read a little more of it to see if it gets any clearer.
