Primitiveand Archaic Flashbacks Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Primitiveand Archaic Flashbacks

How can it be continued to believe.
That those elected to sit,
In positions of decision making leadership.
Should not reflect,
The reality that exists.
Heard to observe it.
And clear to witness everywhere seen.

Who are these fossils still in denial.
And blinded by the selling of propaganda.
Told by those,
Dosing with minds closed.
Enchanted while romanacing,
Their difficult to let go...
Of primitive and archaic flashbacks.
Temporarily captivating,
Racist agendas imagined to distract.

These 'distractions' lose their attraction.
When the consciousness is awakened,
To every aspect known to be shown...
Relects a diversity that makes,
A society great.
Not 'again'.
But what it has always been.
Before 'division' became a bigot's friend.
With attempts to end,
How that greatness began.

Especially...
In a society of people,
Loving to be entertained.
With indulging interests proving to remain.
In sports of all kinds.
Performing arts to addict escapist minds.
And...
Even religious beliefs.
More adopting to adapt 'Christianity',
Into stadium size arenas.

As if...
Concert events.
Has become a must to attend.
By those who feel a closeness to God.
During celebrated holidays.
Done to express and display a faith.
Today that 'normalizes'.
An ever changing,
And progressive outlook on life.
Moving forward yet not to realize,
Nothing about this...
Or who it is picked to sit,
In positions of leadership.

Or...
Their color of skin.
Then...
When the musicians begin to play.
And someone looking more like a vagrant,
Strolls across a stage.
To deliver behind the pulpit,
A prayer.
Before blistering the audience,
With an unprepared sermon.
Making everyone stand up and shout.
Leaving to forget...
What their fears and that nonsense,
Is all about!
