Projected Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Projected

If the image is projected,
Within institutions...
Kept to worship everywhere.
It would not matter,
One's political or religious...
Affiliation.
Ethnicity or color of skin.
One's belief,
Will be kept to defend.
Regardless,
Of skin color nonsense.

And...
In a democracy that claims,
Entitlements are given.
With them to receive.
By all representing,
An array of diversity.
There will be those of all races,
Feeling disenfranchised.
Whenever that is prioritized.

If people have chosen...
A preference to live,
In isolated communities.
Separate from others.
Although...
Everyone loves,
Asian food.
Mexican.
Soul food created in America.
Fried, baked chicken and ribs.
And barbequed everything.
With few exceptions.
Pizza, spaghetti...
Of Chinese origin.
And...
Seafood to smell to 'see' it,
Is eaten.

So...
What is racism about?
Money?
Or the lack of having,
More of it?
With this projected to accept,
An ignorance enjoyed...
To market its employment?

Who is it that lives,
To feel threatened...
In a country,
By the existence...
Of interdependency.
Lived to deny its acceptance!
