Protected Theft Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Protected Theft

A way of life to steal and deceive,
Is a reality for many...
Who can afford to live their pretensions.
From the top down and around found,
Credibility and the competence of it...
Has been bought and sold.
And masqueraded by those wealthy and rich.
This procedure to endure is nothing new,
To hear it heard to then disbelieve.
The quality of life,
Has eroded because of thieves and their misdeeds.

Protected theft and corruption is accepted.
From coast to coast those high and low,
Participate as if it's part of life.
Only those who lie to themselves,
Pretend shock and horror.
And how can this be?
When from pulpits to podiums,
With it preached and taught to teach...
Deception, hypocrisy, racism and bigotry,
Are endorsed to support and enforce...
To represent falsities.
And a way of life lived to cheat,
The only life thieves, deceivers, elected leaders...
Know.
Shown exposed and not to hide.
Keeping those fantasized and deluded,
Awakening as if surprised...
Their lives to live depending on lies,
Are not included.

"Give me a break."

-It's too late for that.
Those folks have been taking them away.
And from you for years.
It's in their DNA.
Who doesn't know that by now? -
