Push Me Back, God Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Push Me Back, God

Push me back.
From a steaming top.
About to blow a craze on me.
Push Me back, God.
You know me to be faithful.
And the peace You have given.
I have earned to keep.

These days,
People are cracking up.
And these days,
People want to prove they're nuts.
As if they had been approved.
They can be rude and disgusting too.
No matter where they are.
To do what they please.
And care less to who.

Push me back, God.
Save me from sinning and allow me to leave.
Please.
Push me back, God.
Before I open my mouth.
And out drops the sleaze.
Keep me from cussing.
In a way only You know I can do.
Push me back, God.
Please don't let me be the one.
To show my best of ignorance done.

These days,
People are cracking up.
As if they want to share their nuts.
Doing this and to cuss.
Not to know how kept faith saves.
And I don't want to be that one.
To show them how or what for me,
You did to teach me many lessons done.

Push me back, God.
You know I have done my best.
To keep my peaceful self in check.
Please.
Push me back, God.
Keep me from being arrested.
Then having to say,
I pray everyday.
But for whatever the reason,
It was God who gave me permission...
To teach a lesson,
On how true ignorance should be shown.
Please push me back, God.
And let me leave these fools.
With my peace to keep it left alone.
