Rain Of Sin Poem by Megan Cooper

Rain Of Sin

Rating: 4.0

This might be confusing. In this poem I am referring to rain as sin, and the world as my backyard. As the rain comes down I am so amazed by the look of it, I don't see how it is affecting my room. Hence as sin enters my life I am so amazed by it, I don't see what it is really doing.

Looking through an open window,
The world is standing still.
From the birds in the air, the wind blowing strong,
Or the majestically rolling green hills.
Perfection at its best right here,
Looking past my wooden window sill.

No corruption, no evil, is in my yard,
This beautiful place sin has not yet scarred.
Trees swaying, wind blowing,
But of course I sit here knowing,
I should close my window and lock it tight,
For there comes a storm before the night.

I know this fact, of course I do,
And I can see gray clouds,
But I am hypnotized by the beauty
As the rain starts coming down.
I am amazed at the beauty of this sin.

No birds do, fly for they are smart,
And are hiding in their nest.
While I am drawn to the nature I see,
Beauty at it’s best.

The way the rain bounces off the leaves,
To the puddles of mud on the ground,
To the way the coolness touches my face,
Or how the droplets on the tin roof sound.

All the while no creature is stirring,
Nor do I see the sun,
As the rain pours down like giant buckets,
Angles dropping them one by one,

This sin covers everything,
And covers all the land,
I look down and foolish me,
My window isn’t pushed down.
I shuffle towards the lock, you see.
My carpet is ruined now.
And just like that the beauty of sin,
Covered my eyes, and I couldn’t see
The rain that was falling down.

All life is a wonder, I see the bigger picture in this work. Something as simple as rain, can bring wonderment and a sense of beauty. Thanks for sharing. Sue
