Rain On A Cold Winter Night. Poem by Abdul Rafay

Rain On A Cold Winter Night.

Silence softly sat in the bowl of night,
Until it was disturbed as I slept inside,
And there came thundering clouds to fight,
All beings ran to their homes to hide,
That which set all the birds to flight,
Was no more than a rain on a cold winter night,
Every now and then appeared a terrorizing white knight,
Up everybody goosebumps it did guide,
Tearing the darkness apart with short bursts of light,
Big clouds into tiny droplets it did divide,
I remember talking to the birds about the clouds' mesmerizing might,
When we sat in the balcony, waiting for the rain to subside,
That which caught my pen in the darkness of night,
Was no more than a rain on a cold winter night.
