Receive Punishment Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

I am prepared to receive punishment
With whatever you plan for resentment
I shall mind none and instead go for it
As it is the only means open for me to feel fit

When I see in her eyes I feel guilty
I regret my decision and pray to almighty
To give me strength and enough of courage
Not to give jolt to anybody and manage

It was not my intention to reject
As I felt it was essential and necessary act
I only knew about short comings and fact
It was going to prove suicidal for both of us in fact

I feel deep regret from within for her
It is certainly a deception and not achievement feather
Not right thinking man would appreciate it at anytime
I feel shame over act and become sad so many times

Not all people get what they want as an ambition
Life may pose tough task with enough of competition
Yet it is not necessary that everybody should get desired share
One must come out of hiding and forcefully dare

She may not forgive me by heart
I could hide my pain as deceptive art
This was just beginning and I was cautious
Life was to be pushed and kept continuous

I have regretted my action but not resented
As it was good for both of us to have consented
It is nice to depart with mutual consent and agreement
Otherwise life as such may pose problem with disagreement

I may not see her in days to come or for years
But I can lead my life without any fear
With no pinch in heart and as free bird
In the sky with no intention to look downward
