Reflection Poem by Jessica Henning

Reflection

Rating: 5.0

when i look into the mirror im afraid of what i see;
a girl thats battered and bruised with eyes as blue as the sea;
when i lay my head down when the sky has let go,
i can feel it overwhelm me from head to toe;
when i wake up to the early morning sun,
i lay awake for hours thinking about what has been done;
this girl in all the pictures that consumes walls i hide in,
has made herself a fool and has become her greatest sin;
the kids around her fingers and the cousins she keeps from harm,
are pulling out the worst in her leaving bruises on her arm;
her best friend is always there but shes let her down as well,
they were meant to be this close in their eyes you can surely tell;
but of all the things shes hiding can she be who they all dream,
or will they eventually see right through her and see right through her scheme;
she has alot to learn and years to make it come true,
but even looking upon the past you can see how much she grew;
but the day will come when she looks in the mirror hoping to see,
the smile on her face again shes hoping to see... me!
