Remembering You Poem by Dave Chessher

Remembering You

I remember the last time I saw you alive
You laughed so much it made you cry
The next time I saw you, was in the chapel of rest
All the pain had gone from your head

I came to see you laying there
I could not believe it, it was not fair

The pain and hurt had gone from your face
Disappeared without a trace

One week later we cremated you
My pain so strong, could this be true

We laid your ashes in the ground
In the place of your choice, you had found

All these years have passed me by
My thoughts, my love for you, have never died
