Repentance Poem by Paul Sebastian

Repentance

Distanced by the blot of sin
Inner person grieves within
Nothing seems to go right
Joy seems to be out of sight
Suffering soul in desert-drought
Thirst quenching water, soul sought.

The Loving Lord’s heart ever burns
For His wayward son’s home return
His love: I have deliberately spurned
Lived in waste, forsook life’s abundance
I am lost! I must go home in repentance

Lord Jesus, full of mercy and Grace,
I long for your gracious embrace!
Oh, how I thrived, in your presence!
How quick you were with answers,
Whenever I asked you favours!
You threw your light before my path
Made it easy when the going was rough
I long to taste the joy of my Lord, once again
My soul suffers to return from this sojourn
Lord Jesus, turn your mercy towards me
In your loving kindness, set me free
In your forgiveness, my soul’s rest be.

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge my wrong doings
And commit myself to heed your calling
As my Master, I obey your commands
I submit, place my life into your hands
You are my Lord, You alone I serve
And follow, never again to swerve.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Valsa George 19 April 2014

When we stand before God in humility and subservience, God's abiding grace will flow down to us. However sinful our life may be, the merciful God is willing to forgive us and by his grace, we will be absolved of all our sins and made anew..... A wonderful prayer for the Holy week! Enjoyed this perfectly rhyming poem! !
