Researching 'rape'



Brassica napus.

We are as stunned
by bright yellow fields of canola
as we were
by flowering fields of rape.

Rape: from the Latin for 'turnip', rapum.

But rapum was napus too.

We could have been stunned by fields of nape.

brassica: Latin for cabbage. Rapum and napus: Latin for turnip.
