Rose Poem by Stella Halliwell

Rose

O’ rose so beautiful
So forsaken and yet
Filling all the world
Each fine petal laden
With such fervour
As to make god’s quake
And fill lovers with regret
So here I lay amidst you
Beguiled at every breath
From which stellar realm
Were you plucked
Adorning summer, worn at her breast
O’ rose so fair never to pale
Pressed cool against worldly lips
