Sadness Poem by Jan E Smith

Sadness

Oh God up in heaven,
so far in the sky,

the one who made all men,
the one who knows why.

Why do you keep me
here on this earth?

In me do you see
some fraction of worth?

I pray for an answer,
for strength to endure.

Life's but a cancer,
and death is its cure.

Why did you make one
as worthless as I?

What good have I done,
why do I not die?

As no one could love me,
my heart feels such pain.

Life storms on the sea,
my tears are the rain.

So hear me sweet savior
as I stop now to pray.

Grant just this one favor,
take the sadness away.
