See For Yourself What Is Involved Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

See For Yourself What Is Involved

Where are you headed?

'In that direction.'

But that way has no path.
And it is thick and dark.
With no Sun to light upon it.

'I am accustomed to carving my way,
Through brush and the thicket of obstacles.
You must lead one day,
To see for yourself what is involved.
And not follow to wander far behind.
Because one day,
Your following will not be allowed.'
