Shattered. Poem by Wayne Young

Shattered.

Beaten,
Broken,
Battered,
Busted,
Crushed,
Mangled,
Death awaits my shattered soul.
When a soul is shattered,
There is almost nothing one can do to repair it.
When a soul is broken,
The bones of my spiritual body cannot be replaced.
When your soul's spirit is crushed,
You feel it Physically.
When you I feel these pains,
I hold them in.
You can't hold it in forever.
I break apart,
I break down,
I fall apart.
Nobody understands,
They feel it necessary to brand it,
Overreaction,
Letting your emotions control you,
Not knowing what others go through.
They believe I have it better than most,
I might,
But that doesn't mean I don't ever hurt.
All of this has left me,
Just a,
Compassionate,
Empty,
Caring,
Shattered shell.
