Silent Stranger Poem by Francis Duggan

Silent Stranger

The stranger you say good day to but to your greeting does not reply
Is perhaps feeling unhappy or else people shy
Or else has a lot on her or his mind
As people in general in their ways are not rude or unkind
In this competitive World we live in many are under stress
Which robs them of mind ease which gives rise to happiness
Some are in no mood when they are feeling down
To reply to the greeting of a stranger they meet in the town
It is hard to feel happy when you are doing it tough
When anything that you do is not good enough
When you feel that all of humanity is your foe
To a friend not to mind a stranger it is even hard to say hello
The stranger you say hello to who silently walks by without even looking your way
Is perhaps more than likely not having a good day.
