Skeleton's Heart Poem by William Baez

Skeleton's Heart

Rating: 2.5

The skeleton's heart
Is construed from the ashes of ruined dreams.
It beats, ever so faintly,
But its rhythm passes on, like a lazy summer breeze.

Unnoticed by all, felt by some.
The skeleton's heart.
In every vein thus flows, a steady stream of failure.
In ruined dreams, collapsed ideals it lives to savor
Even in the skeleton body.

And it beats again, ever so faintly.
There was moments where body's heart mirrored not a skeleton.
Body of immaculate proportion and stately fair,
Where the failure, the worm or the carrier seemed not to dare
At touch its radiance.

She, in the former world, walked in beauty(which is hope.)

With smiles left iridescent.
Coupled with laughter, seemingly unending.
And her once, flesh heart, loved the joy of life.
That same life that did not love her.

Life had chosen another for his love,
Not in ideals(such as hope) which lies above.
But where the worm dies and failure thrives.
In this, of torture and ruination,
Did life find a partner.

Life, through failed hope, construed a new body for her.
From out the ashes of incinerated dreams
From out the cesspool, floating in black liqueur.
Crawls the skeleton,
Creeps into her dead form and stands tall, in moonbeam.
Whilst the ruined heart beats.
Ever so faintly.
