Sketching Her Heart Poem by Ana Burnhep

Sketching Her Heart

So desperately she tried to make him understand
That if he sketched her heart
He would draw nothing but a shape

What he thought screaming emptiness in the middle
Was far from hollow
It was pouring over

Yet he would never be aware
Because what he thought was what he thought
And he saw something symmetrical and perfect
