So...Realistic! Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

So...Realistic!

Oh.
The woe of it all.
Stopping to listen.
With a paying to give,
Undivided attention.
And...
To actually hear,
Words spoken to us heard.
The woe and agony of it all.

Who knew or had a clue,
It took one virus...
To spread a World wide pandemic.
Could have such an effect,
With an opening of eyes and ears.
As if shocked into a strict obedience.
And a reality to accept,
Many have never known...
This confrontational.
And could be so...realistic!
Cutting no slack for anyone to relax.
Done with 'awe' to drop jaws.
This...
Has to be the doing of God.

"I can not still believe,
What I saw yesterday afternoon!
Even my hair,
Dread locked tight.
Began to unlock and straighten."

-What did you see.
And please...
Don't over exaggerate.-

"I'll do the best I can.
I saw...
People covering themselves,
From head to toe...
In blankets and expensive comforters.
Some with price tags still on them."

-Here we go.
And where was this? -

"In gated communities.
You know...
In those exclusive neighborhoods.
Walking their pets and doing their best,
To keep a 'social distance' from each other."

-Will you stop lieing! -

"Well...
Give me some credit.
I did make an attempt,
Not to exaggerate.
But the 'visual'?
Was just too tempting."
