Sold On Skin Cream Poem by Harlan Simantel

Sold On Skin Cream

you sold me you
you did it well
sales girl
so pretty
so friendly
so articulate
and interested
in my dry skin

i bought your time -
about ten or fifteen minutes -
and your smiles
and personality
for about $35

the dead sea cream
was worth about $5
$40 in all

i was a temporary fool
you took me to 'school'
but you sold your soul
for money, honey

p.s.
i tossed the gritty dead skin 'cream'
your clever, seductive scheme
