Someday, I Shall Run Away Poem by Patti Masterman

Someday, I Shall Run Away

Someday, I shall run away-
Far, far away; don't look for me then
For I will have succumbed into my own fantasies
Leaped over the broad abyss of self
And disappeared into my endless tears,
Safe at last, from the ravages of time
And numbing disappointment.

Someday, I shall run away-
Never to darken the earth again;
And who cares, if it's by my own hand,
Or by the hand of another; or just fate-
At least it will finally end, my many days
Of being just a ventriloquist's dummy
For this eternally insatiable heart.
