Something That Stays Poem by Martin Byrne

Something That Stays

Gives me that metallic taste
A taste, when licked, of un-skin
An alkaline harmony, complete rapture
Ripple through undulated chords
Oh, what marvelous response:
The duality of beast wildness
and wisdom focus.
The streams we leave
A tangible point in space
Point to and say

'I was there for a moment'
or
'For a moment I was there for her'
